Activities and Events for Fall Semester 2020 (during COVID restrictions)

Although the pandemic is presenting Duke with a unique semester experience, it has not stopped CTPP Fellows from engaging with their fellow students and the Duke community both in person and virtually.

Fellows are regularly meeting in small groups with undergrad and graduate students for mentoring and fellowship.

CTPP Fellows have been getting involved in Duke groups including ROTC, the Sanford Veterans Association, Duke Armed Forces Association, Duke Building Outdoor Leaders Program, and aiding in Duke research associated with COVID-19 and physical fitness.

Fellows have also attended a virtual discussion with Ambassador Susan Rice and in the near future will have the opportunity to attend virtual discussions with Ambassador Michael Oren and former National Security Advisor General H.R. McMaster. Other speakers planned this semester through the Duke Program in American Grand Strategy include:

Juliette Kayyem – former Assistant Secretary for Intergovernmental Affairs at the Department of Homeland Security
Kashmir Hill – New York Time’s tech reporter
Daveed Gartenstein-Ross & Dr. Erroll Southers – leading experts in preventing white supremacist violence
Ambassador Robert Zoellick – former Head of the World Bank, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State
Melvin Gamble – retired CIA Senior Intelligence Officer
Mohammad Darawshe – leading political analyst for the Israeli press
Philip Zelikow – Executive Director of the 9/11 Commission and former State Department Counselor
